If a couple is having difficulty when trying for a baby because of the male partner's infertility, then one of the medical procedures to consider is artificial insemination (AI). It is the most popular and well-known option out of the various medical procedures that you can choose from to help you conceive.

Of course, not all male infertility problems can be solved with AI. Generally speaking, you and your partner can conceive using this method if the husband is suffering from poor sperm motility, which refers the ability of sperms to reach the eggs or a low sperm count. Other sperm allergies may also be resolved with AI.

Average Artificial Insemination Cost
Unfortunately for childless couples, AI is not the most affordable treatment in the world. The over all artificial insemination cost would depend on whether or not you're using your husband's sperms, where you're having the treatment and how many cycles it would take to get the wife effectively inseminated.

The cost of retrieving and using sperm per cycle is anywhere around $300 - $700. If the husband's sperm is not used, then the amount could reach four digits, depending on where you're getting the sperm.

Include the expenses that you will incur for the sonography (e.g. ultrasound machines), medication and other additional fees which may be asked from you and your artificial insemination cost could be somewhere in the range of $1500 - $4,000.

You may be charged other additional fees depending on the requirements of the fertility program or clinic that you have chosen. Complications do not often happen but they certainly occur and if they happen in your case then you will need to spend extra to cover the cost for additional treatments and procedures.

It would be nice to think that your insurance company would be willing to cover or reimburse your expenses but that's not always the case.

Natural Treatments for Getting Pregnant
The average artificial insemination cost could be well beyond your budget and may take even years for you to save up for. By that time, there is the possibility that you will no longer be at the right age to have a baby. If you are unwilling to wait for a long time before you will be able to carry your own baby in your arms, then it would be wise to look into other alternatives like natural treatments and methods to increase your fertility.
